Spare is hardening sign-in security. This September, some users across admin, driver, and rider apps will need to sign in again once. This only applies if you have not already signed in on or after 6 August 2026. If you have, you will not be affected.
You do not need to do anything right away. If you have not signed in on or after 6 August 2026, you can avoid being automatically signed out from 13–28 September by signing out and signing back in before 13 September.

13 – 28 September
Spare gradually signs out users who have not already signed in on or after 6 August 2026. This can affect web (admin/dispatch), driver, and rider users. If someone is actively using Spare, sign-out is delayed so they are not interrupted, but they will still eventually need to sign in again. If they have been away, they see the usual sign-in screen the next time they open Spare. There is no single day when everyone is signed out at once.
From 29 September 2026
The September update is complete. Every three months, users sign in again when prompted, as part of normal platform security. If someone is mid-shift when that happens, Spare waits before signing them out so they are not interrupted.
For agency administrators: On top of the banner, we recommend briefing staff (dispatch, drivers, and shared tablets) so a sign-in prompt is not a surprise. On shared driver tablets, plan for the next driver on shift to sign in if the sign-in screen appears.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will everyone be signed out on the same day?
No. Automatic sign-outs run from 13 to 28 September. There is no single "sign-out day."
Does everyone need to sign in again?
No. If you signed in on or after 6 August 2026, you will not be prompted. Everyone else is signed out gradually from 13 to 28 September. If the sign-in screen appears, it is expected.
Will drivers be signed out during a shift?
During 13–28 September, active use delays a driver's sign-out so they are not interrupted, but they will still eventually need to sign in again. If they have been away, they see the sign-in screen the next time they open the app.
From 29 September, if a session expires mid-shift, Spare waits before signing them out so they can finish. They sign in again the next time they open the app after that.
Will riders be signed out during a trip?
No. Riders are prompted on app open, not mid-trip.
Do riders need a password?
No. Phone or email + verification code, same as today.
What if someone forgot their admin password?
Use the regular Spare "forgot password" process.
Is this only for admin users?
No. It will affect admin/web, driver, and rider users. The in-product banner is Spare Admin only; please brief drivers and riders separately.
What happens after September?
