This release focuses on making the Rider app more accessible and easier to navigate for every rider, alongside bug fixes and improvements that ensure a smooth journey when using the app.
Bug Fixes
Trip links now open exactly where they should
Some agencies share links that are meant to open the app with a rider's trip details already filled in. Previously, tapping one of these links could send the rider to the home screen instead. That's now fixed, so the trip planner opens pre-filled as intended, including pickup, drop-off, rider count, and sometimes the time.
Accessibility Updates
Screen readers keep riders in the loop while planning a trip
Screen readers now speak up the moment a trip can't be planned, whether it's no service, no options, or outside service hours, so riders always know what's happening.
Favourites now say exactly where they'll go
Saved favourites on the home screen now read out both the name and the full address (for example, "Work, 123 Main St"), giving riders more confidence before they book.
A cleaner listening experience for announcements
Announcement images are now correctly treated as decorative, so screen readers glide past them instead of reading out a file URL.
Walking directions are easier to follow Walking segments in the trip timeline are now announced as "Travel for 12 min," making the audio experience just as clear as what's on screen.
Rider count controls speak for themselves
The plus and minus buttons for adjusting rider count now announce exactly what they do, "Increase adult count," "Decrease adult count", for a smoother experience with assistive tech.
