Trip Templates
Once you're done with Services, head to the Trip Templates page to start creating individual Trips.
When you click on "Add New Trip Template" start by filling out the basics:
Name -> something to remember it by
Service -> when should these trips operate?
Route -> which route are these trips for?
Headsign -> what is the name of the destination? Often the last stop name.
Direction -> Inbound or outbound (or irrelevant if a loop)
First departure, last departure times
Headway -> how often does this trip happen?
Then start to actually build the order of stops and the shape the vehicle travels between those stops. If you've already made Trip Templates before, there'll be "Patterns" saved. These Patterns are a collection of stops, in a particular order, with a particular shape connecting them.
If you haven't made one yet, or want to start from scratch, just start by entering your first stop in the "Add Stop" search bar:
Once you'v added your stops, go ahead and give this new Pattern a name in case you want to use it again in the future.
Make sure that the travel time in between stops is accurate and the dwell time at each stop, this is what we'll use to generate your Trip Timetable.
If you want the stop to be used to measure On Time Performance against, mark it as a Timepoint.
You can also check that the turn by turn directions for drivers are accurate here:
If you want to make a change to the shape that the vehicle travels from stop to stop, just click on the part of the route you want to change and drag it to a new street. If you want to undo, just click on the Waypoint again to delete it.
When you're done, press save and you can confirm that the Timetable looks accurate for these particular trips. If it doesn't, adjust the run and dwell times and re-save.
Once you save a Trip Template, the shape will appear on the Network Map:
