What are Schedules, Blocks, and Duties?
Schedules are a collection of blocks and duties
Blocks are a collection of trips that are all completed by a single vehicle
Duties are a collection of trips that are all completed by a single driver
Often, Blocks and Duties look very similar, but if you have a more complex setup you might have multiple Duties per Block
Work Rules
In order to generate a schedule that matches your agency's needs, you can configure specific "Work Rules". These are rules that your Schedule will abide by when created, such as:
Max Block Duration - The maximum allowed total duration of a single block from start to finish.
Max Daily Hours - Same as Max Block Duration in hours.
Max Duty Piece Duration - The maximum allowed duration for a single duty piece (a continuous segment of work assigned to a driver within a duty).
Min Layover Time - The minimum required gap between the end of one trip and the start of the next trip within the same block (excluding deadhead travel time).
Day of Week Overrides - if you want to allow 12 hour days on Tuesday but 8 hours every other day, these overrides are your tool!
Generating a Schedule Template
When you're done with your work rules, create a new Schedule and click on "Generate All Templates". This will generate your agency's per day schedule. Here, you can assign vehicles and drivers if they usually work the same shifts on a given day of the week.
Using a Schedule in Live Operations
Go to Live Operations -> Live Schedule to see the schedule for a given day. If you want to make a change to the assignment just for today, you can do so here and it won't impact your "Template".
Your "Template" will automatically create itself in the Live Schedule section on a rolling 7 day basis. So if it's Monday, you should see Live Schedules filled out until the following Monday.
NOTE: Make sure that you fill in the assignment for Vehicles under Blocks and Drivers under Duties:
Important Notes
Only once a driver and vehicle are assigned in this Live Schedule section will your drivers be able to sign in.
If you update your Template and you want it to take effect in the next 7 days, you'll need to click "Reset to Template" in the Live Schedule page.
If you click "Reset to Template" while a driver is logged in, it will log them out and lose their progress in that duty.
