New Features

Upcoming Stops Visibility

We’ve heard feedback from drivers that they want to see more of their day, including their upcoming breaks. But we’ve also heard from agencies that showing the entire day could be problematic if things are going to change on the fly.

Prior to this change, you had to choose between showing all upcoming stops or none. This change allows you to show the next three upcoming stops (could be pickups, dropoffs, breaks, or end location). Here’s an example of what this could look like (note you can also see if the passenger is using a mobility aid or not).

Driver Name on Login

We’ve added the driver name (seen as First Name below) to the main page when the driver logs in for the first time or starts a duty. This is a visual cue of which account you’re logged into, so that you don’t start the duty for another driver accidentally.

Rider External ID Shown to Drivers

If the rider has an External Numeric ID set, it will now display to the driver next to “ID”. These IDs are often used to recognize that you have the right rider onboard the vehicle. It’s in addition to the last four digits of their phone number (8637 below).

If you don’t have these IDs in your organization, you'll need to speak with your Spare Representative to get them enabled.

Hide Audio Options

You can now turn on or off this “Sound” setting below for drivers. Speak to your Spare Representative if you want to turn it off. If you do so, then drivers won’t see this setting and by default sound notifications will be read out to them.

New Accessibility Icons

We’ve added icons and updated their styling across the app for accessibility features. Critically, you can now see these icons while you’re navigating to a stop so as a driver you’re more prepared for what you’re about to arrive to. See the example below with the wheelchair icon next to the rider’s profile image:

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the navigation polyline wouldn't show for a small percentage of drivers.

  • Ensures that "Same Side of Road Preference" is set, even if drivers deviate from their route. Previously, deviating from the route could lose this preference. This could mean drivers were dropping off passengers on the wrong side of the street in some cases.

  • Fixed an issue where drivers are being told to wait to start driving when they should be being navigated to the next stop.

  • Fixed an issue where the bottom sheet wouldn't open, causing drivers to not be able to complete pickups or dropoffs.

  • Added new functionality to ensure that the app regains connection more quickly after losing connection from poor cell coverage.

  • Fixed an issue where the rider's details like phone number and ID were not being shown to the driver in some cases.
