Where can I find information on past releases?

You can learn more about version 4.1 and 4.2 here and version 4.0 here. The following release notes are about features and bug fixes included in version 4.3.

Pro Tip: You can check which version you're on by navigating to the account menu and scrolling down to the bottom.

What is the release timeline?

The general release date for Rider App 4.3 is January 7, 2026.

Please note that in order to roll out this update safely, we use a strategy of a gradual rollout. This means that a greater and greater percentage of riders receive the update over the course of one week. This means that 100% of riders will have access to the 4.3 version around January 14, 2026.

Please work with your Spare Representative if these dates do not work for you and we can accommodate a different schedule.

What's the theme of this release?

This is a behind the scenes update. We've made a major upgrade to how the app handles navigation between pages. While you may not notice any dramatic visual changes, the app should feel noticeably smoother and more responsive.

The biggest improvement: the app now supports 120Hz refresh rates (up from 60Hz previously). For riders with devices that support high refresh rates, this means smoother scrolling and transitions throughout the app.

What new features are included in version 4.3?

Clearer Language for Trip Timing

We've changed the language from "Now" to "Next Available" when booking trips. This better reflects how your services work and should help set clearer expectations about when vehicles will arrive. This means the booking screens now shows "Next Available" instead of "Now" to clarify that your trip will be assigned to the next available vehicle.

Ticket Type Descriptions

When purchasing tickets, riders can now see descriptions for each ticket type. This makes it easier to choose the right option.

Eligibility Alerts for Rider Types and Accessibility Features

If a rider tries to add a rider type or accessibility feature they're not eligible for (for example, adding a PCA when their profile doesn't allow it), they'll now see a clear alert message explaining why.

Improved Agency Switching for Multi-Org Apps

For apps that serve multiple agencies, the menu option previously said "Change Agency." Now it says "Change from [Agency Name]" so riders always know which agency they're currently using.

What bug fixes and improvements are included in version 4.3?

  • Keyboard no longer blocks confirmations: Previously, if your keyboard was open when you pressed "Confirm," you might have had issues moving to the next page. This has been resolved.

  • Accessibility features and rider types are now remembered: When you input accessibility features or rider types and then go back to change your trip location, those inputs are no longer lost. They're saved and will still be there when you return.

  • Custom field inputs are preserved: If you enter additional details in the request custom fields, navigate to the next page, and then come back, your entries are now saved.

  • Better navigation after adding favourites: When you add a new favourite location, you're now brought directly to your favourite locations list instead of back to the main menu.
