What is Scout for Analytics?

Scout for Analytics allows you to create any Analytics v2 report using natural language instead of the report builder. Simply ask Scout for the data you need, and it will generate the chart for you—whether you're a data analyst or operations manager with no technical background.

Scout understands your questions and translates them into visual reports, giving you instant access to insights about your Spare platform data without needing to learn complex reporting tools.

How to access Scout for Analytics

Once Scout is enabled for your organization, you have two ways to access it:

  1. Click the sparkles AI icon in the left-hand menu

  2. Navigate to Analytics 2 → New Report → Scout

What Scout can do

Scout for Analytics can generate any report that's possible in Analytics v2, including:

  • Trip booking patterns and volumes

  • Service performance metrics

  • Rider behavior analysis

  • Operational efficiency reports

  • Custom date ranges and filters

  • Multi-dimensional data analysis

Best for: Spare Operations (on-demand) product data. While Scout works with other products like Eligibility, Resolve, and EAM, these products have fewer analytics capabilities available.

What Scout cannot do (currently)

To set clear expectations, Scout has some limitations:

  • Cannot create reports if the required cubes, measures, or dimensions aren't available in Analytics v2

  • Cannot create custom measures beyond what's already configured

  • Cannot answer general questions about your Spare platform outside of analytics

  • Cannot use the general SQL report builder

  • Cannot see the actual chart or data after it's been generated, therefore does not know the results of the chart

When Scout cannot answer your question, it will explicitly let you know and may suggest alternative approaches.

Tips for getting the best results

  • Be specific: Instead of "show me bookings," try "show me bookings by service for the last 30 days"

  • Break things down: Always think about how you want the data broken down, e.g. "Show me total bookings on all service, for the last 30 days, broken down by day"

  • Start simple: Begin with straightforward requests, then build up to more complex analyses

  • Provide context: Mention date ranges, specific services, or other filters you want to apply

  • Iterate: If Scout doesn't get it quite right the first time, refine your request with more details

Who is Scout for Analytics for?

Scout is designed for anyone who needs insights from their data:

  • Operations managers who need quick answers to service questions

  • Analysts who want to build reports faster

  • Leadership who need executive summaries and trends

  • Non-technical staff who want access to data without learning report builders

Examples of questions to ask Scout

  • "Show me a bar chart of my OTP performance over the last few months, break this down by service."

  • "Create me a table of all riders who signed up in the past 90 days with how many trips they've taken."

  • "How many trips have we had for riders with visual impairments in the last 12 months?"

  • "Show me a line chart which shows how many deadhead hours we have each day over the last 30 days."
