Overview
Rider App 4.4 introduces six new rider-facing features and bug fixes. Some features require configuration by Spare before they are visible to riders — see the Availability Summary below.
New Features
Trip History Report Generation
Riders can now generate and download a PDF report of their trip history and payment transactions.
Reports cover any date range of up to 14 months and include a summary page, trip detail pages, and transaction pages.
This is useful for riders who need to keep records of their travel — for example, for expense reimbursement, tax purposes, or personal budgeting — reducing the need for them to contact your team to request this information.

Cancellation Reasons Shown to Riders
When a trip is cancelled — whether by a driver or an administrator — riders will now see the reason why directly in the app (e.g. "No Show"). Agencies can also configure custom cancellation reasons that will be surfaced to riders. This reduces confusion and inbound support queries from riders who don't know why their trip was cancelled.
Fare Information and Payment Methods for Multimodal Journeys
For agencies using fixed route services, riders can now see the total journey fare on the booking confirmation and trip view screens, giving them a clear picture of what they'll pay before and during their trip.
Credit cards and digital wallets aren't supported for journeys that combine on-demand and fixed-route transit. To avoid confusion, the app now filters the payment options shown at booking to only those that work for the full journey.
Greater fare transparency helps riders understand their charges, reducing billing-related support requests.
Note: This feature is only available to agencies running fixed-route services and requires configuration by Spare before it will be visible to riders. Contact your Spare representative to get this set up.
Browse and Switch Between Nearby Transit Stops
When viewing departures for a stop, riders can now tap other nearby stops in the list or on the map to instantly switch and see departure times — without having to go back and search again. This makes it quicker to compare options and find the most convenient stop.
Ticket Descriptions
When selecting a ticket type, riders will now see a short description for each option, helping them choose the right ticket before booking.
Clearer Agency Switcher Button
The button to switch transit agencies now displays the actual agency name (e.g. "Change from Metro Transit") instead of the generic "Change Agency," making it clearer to riders which service they are currently using.
Bug Fixes
False "You are no longer logged in" alert on first launch — Some riders were seeing this error immediately after opening the app even though they were still logged in. Resolved.
Booking address used favourite name instead of real address — When booking from a saved favourite location, the trip was sometimes recorded with the nickname (e.g. "Home") instead of the actual street address. Resolved.
