Closing a job out does two things beyond ticking off the last task: it tidies up the issues that were reported, and it decides whether the vehicle goes back on the road.
Closing the job
When you finish the last task, the app asks whether you want to close the whole job. Not yet leaves everything exactly as it is.
If you said "Not yet", you can still close it later. With every task done, the only button left is Complete Work Order. There is nothing left to time, so the start button has gone.
Sorting out the reported issues
When you close a job, the app lists every issue on it that is still Open or Overdue. These are the problems somebody reported that led to this work.
This is the moment they get tidied up. You fixed the problem, so the issue that recorded it should not stay open.
Every one is already set to Resolve, because that is usually what finishing a job means. If that is right, you do not need to touch anything — just carry on.
To change one, tap the coloured button to its right:
Choice | What happens | Pick it when |
Resolve | Marked Resolved and closed off. | You fixed it. This covers most jobs. |
Close | Marked Closed. | Nobody is going to action it. It was reported twice, or it is no longer relevant. |
Unlink | Comes off this job and stays Open on the vehicle. | Still a genuine problem, but not one this job fixed. It waits for a future job. |
Each one also has a space for a short note. It is worth writing something, especially if you chose Close or Unlink. "Why was this closed?" is the question somebody asks months later.
💡 Only issues still Open or Overdue show up here. Anything already dealt with is left alone.
Putting the vehicle back on the road
The same screen asks what should happen to the vehicle.
⚠️ This does not happen by itself. The app put the vehicle into maintenance when work started, but it will not take it back out unless you say so. If you skip past this, the vehicle stays off the road.
You get two choices:
Set asset back to Active — already chosen for you, because finishing the job usually means the vehicle can go back into service.
Leave asset as In Maintenance — pick this when something still keeps it off the road: parts on order, another job outstanding, or a road test still to do.
Two other things appear on this screen if they apply to your vehicle:
A meter reading. The app shows the last reading it has as the lowest number you can enter, so a typo cannot wind the odometer backwards.
A condition score, if your organisation rates vehicles that way.
Pulling in issues before you finish
Before closing a job, it is worth checking whether the vehicle has other issues reported against it that nobody has picked up. If you have it in the workshop anyway, you can deal with them in the same visit.
Step 1. Tap the ... at the top right. Link Existing Issues tells you how many are waiting. If there are none, the option is not there at all.
Step 2. Each issue shows how serious it is and where it came from. Issues raised automatically by a failed inspection item appear here too.
Step 3. Tick as many as apply and add them in one go. The button tells you how many you are about to add.
Step 4. They join the job straight away, and the count goes up. They will also appear on the closing screen later, so you can deal with everything in one pass.
For comparison, here is the same menu on a vehicle with nothing outstanding. The option simply is not shown.
