The Spare Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) mobile app puts the workshop in your pocket. It is where mechanics run their jobs and where inspectors fill in their checklists.
This page is the starting point. Each guide below covers one part of the app.
Who uses it
The app is built around two kinds of people, and it looks different for each.
If you are a… | You use the app to… |
Mechanic | See the jobs assigned to you, record your hours and the parts you fitted, and close jobs out. |
Inspector | Pick a vehicle, fill in a checklist, and report anything you find. |
💡 Drivers do not use this app. Their pre and post duty checks live in the Spare Driver app.

Common questions
Why does the app look different for me than for my colleague?
It comes down to your account, not the app. Either one of you has jobs assigned and the other does not, or the two accounts have different permissions. Someone without permission to see jobs gets the inspection card instead of a job list. See Your home screen. Why can I not tick anything off on this job?
It is not assigned to you. If the name at the top says Unassigned, tap Assign to me to claim it. If it shows somebody else's name, it is theirs to finish.I have no jobs at all. Is something wrong?
Probably not. If your list is headed Available Work Orders, nothing is assigned to you yet and you are looking at the jobs anyone can pick up. If there is no job list at all, your account is set up for inspections only. The vehicle still shows as in maintenance after I finished the job.
Putting it back on the road is a choice you make on the closing screen. The app does not do it for you. See Finishing a work order. My manager changed a setting but nothing changed on my phone.
Open Settings from the home screen and tap Refresh Data. The app keeps working to the old setting until you do.I added a part but it is not showing on the job.
Some organisations send parts through the stores for approval first. Until someone approves it, it will not appear as used. See Adding parts.I started an inspection and got called away. Have I lost it?
No. It is kept as it was, and your home screen shows an Inspections in Progress banner. Tap it to carry on.
