Running an Inspection in the EAM Mobile App

Starting an inspection, filling in the form, and picking up where you left off.

An inspection is a checklist you fill in against a vehicle. It is two choices and then the form itself.

Where you start depends on your account:

  • If you also work on jobs, tap Start Inspection along the bottom of the screen.

  • If inspections are all you do, the card is already waiting on your home screen. See Your home screen.

Filling one in

Step 1. Choose the vehicle.

The list is searchable. Type part of a fleet number to narrow it down rather than scrolling.

Step 2. Choose the checklist.

Only the checklists set up for that vehicle are offered, so you cannot accidentally run a bus checklist on a van.

Each one shows how many items it contains, so you know whether you are starting a quick four-item daily check or a full twenty-six-item inspection before you commit.

Step 3. Work through it.

The vehicle and checklist are named at the top so you can confirm you are on the right one. Complete Inspection sits at the bottom.

A red star marks anything you have to answer before you can submit.

Depending on the checklist you may see:

  • Pass or fail questions. You can attach a photo or type a comment on any of them.

  • A meter reading. The app shows the last reading on record as the lowest number you can enter, so a slip of the finger cannot wind the odometer backwards.

  • A signature box.

If you get interrupted

Nothing is lost. An inspection you start but do not submit is kept as it was.

Your home screen shows an Inspections in Progress banner. Tap it to carry on where you left off.

What happens when you fail an item

Failing an item does more than mark the checklist. Depending on how the checklist was built, it can automatically raise an issue against that vehicle.

That issue then shows up for whoever works on the vehicle next, so a problem you spot on a Monday morning check does not get forgotten. Mechanics can pull it onto a job from Link Existing Issues — see Finishing a work order.

Some items are set up as urgent. On those, submitting the inspection shows you a message straight away telling you what to do next, such as taking the vehicle out of service.

💡 Checklists themselves are built on the web, not in the app. See Inspections in Spare Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
